My introduction

Hi, I’m Christavia James, M.Ed., LPC-S.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor providing therapy for children, teens, and adults, as well as clinical supervision for LPC-Associates in Texas. I am licensed in Texas, Virginia, and Colorado, which allows me to support clients across all three states through thoughtful, individualized care.

My work is rooted in compassion, clinical integrity, and a deep belief in every person’s ability to heal, grow, and reconnect with their sense of self. I approach therapy as a collaborative process that honors your experiences while helping you build emotional strength, clarity, and confidence.

Outside of the therapy space, I value creativity, balance, and meaningful connection. I enjoy baking and music, both of which I see as powerful tools for grounding, expression, and emotional regulation. I believe strongly in holistic approaches to healing and strive to support the whole person by honoring emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual needs as interconnected parts of well being.

Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or personal growth, my goal is to provide a safe, affirming space where meaningful change can take place. Therapy should feel supportive, intentional, and empowering, guiding you toward lasting progress at a pace that feels right for you.

My Clinical Experience & Leadership

In addition to providing therapy, I have served in multiple leadership roles, including Director of Clinical Services and Clinical Supervisor. In these positions, I have supported interns and LPC-Associates through training, supervision, and professional development while guiding ethical and clinically sound decision making. My leadership work has included program development, clinical oversight, and strengthening systems that support high quality mental health care delivery.

I have extensive experience working across a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health, vocational counseling, and recovery based environments. My background includes counseling individuals with criminal histories, supporting clients involved in reentry and justice impacted systems, and working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These experiences have shaped my commitment to equity, accessibility, and culturally responsive care.

Beyond direct clinical work, I am actively involved in community leadership and advocacy. I serve on the board of the Southeast Texas Counseling Association and on the board of JumpStart Wellness and Recovery, a recovery focused organization dedicated to improving access to care. Through these roles, I contribute to professional development initiatives, community education, and efforts to reduce barriers to mental health services in underserved and marginalized communities.

Whether I am working directly with clients or mentoring clinicians, my focus remains the same: creating safe, supportive spaces where healing, growth, and long term progress are possible.

My Approach & Focus in Therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence based practice. I tailor my work to each client’s unique needs, lived experiences, and personal goals, while creating a space that feels safe, respectful, and supportive. I believe therapy works best when clients feel actively involved and empowered throughout the process.

My clinical focus includes strengthening self worth and confidence while supporting concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, emotional regulation, identity exploration, minority stress, and family or relationship challenges. I also value holistic care and consider emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well being as interconnected aspects of healing.

I work with children starting at age 6 through adulthood, offering therapy that is developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and intentionally paced to support meaningful and lasting growth.

My Licensure & Supervision Work

I am an LPC Supervisor in Texas, fully licensed and credentialed to provide clinical supervision to LPC Associates working toward independent licensure. Supervision is a meaningful part of my professional work, and I am committed to creating a supportive, structured environment where developing clinicians can grow with confidence and competence.

My supervision style emphasizes ethical practice, thoughtful case consultation, and skill development while also addressing the real world challenges of clinical work. I value open communication and collaboration, and I work closely with associates to help them strengthen their clinical identity, decision making skills, and professional confidence.

LPC Associates who are seeking supervision are welcome to reach out for more information regarding availability, supervision structure, and expectations. I strive to make supervision a space that feels encouraging, respectful, and aligned with each clinician’s professional goals.

Alongside supervision, I maintain an active therapy practice serving clients in Texas, Virginia, and Colorado, which allows me to bring current clinical experience into the supervision process.

Private, Cash Pay Practice

I choose to operate as a private, cash pay practice so I can offer care that is flexible, intentional, and deeply personalized. This approach allows therapy to be guided by your unique needs and goals, creating space for meaningful and lasting work.

While I am fully licensed and qualified to accept insurance, working outside of insurance allows me to focus my time and energy on you rather than administrative demands. Clients often appreciate the added privacy, consistency, and freedom to engage in therapy at a pace and depth that feels right for them.

Choosing therapy is an investment in your emotional well being. Many clients seek my services because they value thoughtful, high quality care that is tailored to their lived experiences. My fees reflect my clinical training, leadership experience, and ongoing commitment to professional growth so that I can provide care that is present, attentive, and clinically sound.

The work we do together extends beyond our time in session. Care is taken to thoughtfully prepare, reflect, and develop individualized tools that support progress and help create sustainable change between sessions.

Superbills are available upon request for clients who wish to explore out of network reimbursement. Clients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider directly to determine eligibility, as reimbursement is not guaranteed.
